A Boy and His Boxer

Happy Friday!! Who is spending time with their family this weekend? This fun fall session started out as a shoot with a boy and his dog, meant to be a gift for mom, then turned into a full family session! I love the fun and excitement that come from enjoying a session with an amazing family like this one... so much love and silliness. I loved how they brought in their Wisconsin spirit with a packer jersey!! We had fun strolling through the nature preserve, chasing Ike the dog, and trying to get stolen shoes back from him again! It is very special to be invited into these moments as a photographer... I find myself thinking about how lucky these experiences make me, and how enriching it is to spend time with families, learning about them, sharing in the fun, and photographing their memories. - SJR

Bubba's Family Portrait Session

Happy Friday, all!! I love it when I have the opportunity to work with relaxed families... going for a stroll, taking photos, enjoying nature, and learning more about the people I photograph. I've always felt that photographing is a great way to get to know people, and I definitely enjoyed my time out and about with this awesome family and their sweet dog, Bubba. Cal came along for this one to be an extra set of hands for Bubba, since he's got a sweet spot for puppies and dogs. We loved the chatter between these sisters and just had an all around great time with this close knit family. - SJR

Save the Date for August 20, 2016!

Nothing makes me happier than the opportunity to work with friends, and especially friends like Amanda that go all the way back to kindergarten! Clearly these two love birds enjoy each other's company. As I like to say... I love LOVE, and it is so good to see a couple so at ease and happy with one another. Their engagement session at Pheasant Branch in Middleton was so fun and made for some wonderful, sweet, and even silly photos. It was such a joy to photograph Amanda and Shaun's engagement session, and I'm thrilled that I will get to share in their special day as their wedding photographer in August! - SJR

Merry Day After Christmas 2015!

Merry day after Christmas! I hope that all who celebrate had a happy holiday with family, friends, and loved ones! We had a wonderful day spent with both of our families... and I even found a little bit of photographic inspiration from my Mom's Santa collection! I love visiting for Christmas, being with family, enjoying all the decorations my Mom has put up, and seeing all my favorite family ornaments on the tree once again... I have so many favorites, but the IU ornament jumped out especially this year as I was thinking about my Grandpa. Though I'm a Badger through and through, his stories from his days at Indiana University bring me back to many Christmases spent around the kitchen table... munching on Chex Mix and swapping stories. So many good holiday memories! Along with being the day after Christmas, it is also Small Business Saturday! I like to celebrate small businesses and their owners every day, but I'm making a special effort to share special offers every saturday for the coming year! I'm excited to announce my new Small Business Saturday Special that will run through the end of this year... I am offering $50 off ALL photo sessions (including weddings) booked before midnight on 12/31! Contact me today to book your session!

Be well, and enjoy the final days of 2015! - SJR

Seven Month Baby Session!

Here are a few sneak peeks from my Seven Month session with Miss Julia! Such a gorgeous fall day, and a fun shoot out by Tiedeman's Pond in Middleton. The pond is one of my favorite places from childhood, and a favorite place to photograph! - SJR

Dream Park Family Session

I had so much fun with this Super Hero Family at Dream Park in Monona, WI. Such a cool place... I highly suggest that you check it out. A fun visit for kids, and kids at heart! We did this family session as a prelude to mom and dad's wedding, which had a costume themed reception. Such a sweet, wonderful family... I feel much safer knowing the city is being protected by these Super Heroes under cover! - SJR

Photographing the Photographer!

Sometimes the photographer has to step out and get in front of the camera for a change! Today was a fun day to take some updated head shots for my website and marketing, as I was rocking my fresh haircut by Erin at Be Inspired Salon in Madison. Many thanks to my sweetheart and stellar assistant, Callan, for assisting with the camera work. (A tripod can only do so much on its own.)I've been busy editing up client sessions, prepping things for the studio, and working on some exciting marketing ideas to launch very soon! October is jam packed with so many awesome photo sessions... three weddings, children, and an engagement. Loving every minute of it... Live, love, laugh, and keep on clickin! - SJR

Six Month Photo Session with Julia

Here are a few favorites from a 6 month baby photo session I had with Julia and her mamma last weekend. My first shoot in the new studio! I had such a fun time working with my friend Jessie to pick out some new backgrounds for this lovely little lady.  She's such a little cutie... couldn't wait to share these pictures! I'm looking forward to her 7 month shoot already! - SJR

Senior Session in Leland

It was such a gorgeous day for this senior session with Alex on his family's farm! I always love working with this family, and this session was no exception. We had a beautifully cloudy day, and I had a great time with my assistant, Cal, as we captured the beauty of the land and the cows for this special senior photo session. I love how unique these pictures are to Alex! The family farm and some of his favorite spots in Leland were the perfect backdrop for his portraits. We even had a waterfall that Alex bravely climbed down to for pictures. I'm beyond thrilled to share these, and can't wait to edit the rest of this session and share more pictures! - SJR

Bekah's Senior Photo Session

I am so excited to finally share some photos of Bekah to follow up with the quick sneak peek I had posted on my Facebook page. Bekah and I worked together to create a fun senior session in celebration of her class of 2015 graduation! We had fun playing with poses and color for these, and I really enjoyed the way that she incorporated her personality so well in the pictures! I LOVED that she brought along her favorite Ninja Turtle shirt to express herself, and it was fun to photograph her in jerseys that showed some of her favorite Wisconsin teams. I had so much fun with this session! - SJR
